Patience lands the sail

24 kilometers off of Playas del Coco rods baited, out riggers extended, lines trolled behind the open aired Marlin Negro

Rolling swells gently surrounded as a scorching, hot sun drew sweat to our brows

10, 20, 25, 30 minutes went uneventfully by until the scenario instantly changed, line was stolen by a marine beast that broke the water's surface exposing his magnificence.

As if in unison, a crew of Joses reeled in surplus lines so that as a team we could land the powerful fish.

Swiftly, she slipped into the chair grasping the tension filled rod that was braced between her legs. She was told to slowly draw the pole upward and quickly wind in the slack line in a concentrated rhythmic pattern to minimize his run.

In a valorous effort he propelled himself out of the water, showcased his massive size, and quickly plunged deep below the surface as if to make a statement.

The battle continued for 30 minutes as the boat was expertly maneuvered to tire him out - Once exhausted his 6' 120 lb. body of muscular justice was thrust onto the boat.

He was examined, photographed, and released back in an effort to honor his creator.
